17 Digit Birth Registration made mandatory for Machine Readable Passport (MRP) in Bangladesh

A 17  digit birth registration number has been made mandatory for the issuance of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) in Bangladesh. Those who don't have the 17 digit birth registration number, can get new birth registration number from their concerned registrar.

Government of Bangladesh has already launched this program manually and at present is working towards the online version. The Project Office of Birth Registration under Local Government Division has spelled out the process through which expatriate Bangladeshis can get their BRN. People can apply for birth certificates through the online birth registration application form. Applicants can also download manual form and submit it to registrar.
